First held in 1979, this 1.7km mission of a rally course has put even the most seasoned rally drivers to the test including Hayden Paddon and the late great Possum Bourne.
In 1999, the late Kim Austin in his 4WD Mitsubishi Starion V8, completed the course in 56.57 seconds. In doing so, he created a course record that would remain unbeaten for 17 years.
In 2016, the course record was broken not once but 3 times by Sloan Cox, who would later take out the 2017 title competing against an impressive field of 53 drivers.
2018 would see the Ashley Forrest Rally enter its 31st running and see Possum Bourne Motorsport & Motul naming partners.
Motul are proud to have their name along side Possum Bourne Motorsport as the name is synonymous with Rally in New Zealand.
